THE TIME IS NOW

My name is Mitchell Huntley and I am a resident of Anson County. I was born and raised in Wadesboro,NC. I have been involved with my community for years actively mentoring our youth. I am looking for unity within our County for this cause.

In order to begin reestablishing a community for our people, we will have to act as one and get at least 10,000 SIGNATURES to bring the attention to and have the confederate statue removed from our courthouse.

Blacks in Anson County are 48.6% of the total population which means by numbers we are the majority in Anson County. The total population of Anson County is just under 26,000 people. These numbers are very strategic in building economic and social balance.

Unfortunately our conditioning and programming has made us our own worst enemy. We have allowed this county to be listed as one of the worst towns s and counties to reside in NC.

We stopped fighting for better conditions of our schools and passed the hopeless baton to our youth. We have hid behind a cross we are too occupied to carry while denying our very own birthright.

Now I beseech every black and brown people and church to take action and allow your members to sign this petition so our voice can be heard.

I am asking you to volunteer by distributing the petition and walk with me in the communities educating us on the importance and significance of this demand.

WIith your support and signatures We will bring local and national attention to the bias conditions of Anson County.

We have been held down far too long.

We are still overcoming as the torch is still lit. I am pleading with you to help me bring light to our community needs as a whole. Grace be unto us all!
