Help Everyone Live Prosperously started this petition to Senator Mitch McConnell and

The government shutdown on December 22nd, 2018. This was after President Donald Trump refused to pass a continuing resolution to fund the government. The resolution had bipartisan support and would have passed, but the President decided to play politics without thinking of the repercussions of his actions. It has been fifteen days the government has been shutdown. Over 800,000 government workers and contractors are not being paid for their work. They are facing the reality of not being able to pay rent or their mortgage, buy food for their families, expensive medicines they may need; or being able to rest knowing they do not have a government and President that cares enough about them as Americans to not to use them as political pawns.

In addition to these workers, millions of other Americans will now be affected by this political stunt. In 2017 over 42,000,000 used S.N.A.P better known as food stamps to help feed their families. Funding for that program runs out at the end of February. The people who defend our ports and keep us safe in the Coast Guard will see a lapse in pay if the shutdown is not solved by January 15th. Moreover, countless Americans(including you) will not be able to receive their income tax refund until the government is fully funded once again. The toll of this shutdown is of incalculable magnitude.

Despite the fact the President vowed to veto the continuing resolution, Senate Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell could have passed the bill anyway with a veto proof majority in the Senate, but he consciously chose to be complicit in the political farce. At any time, he can call a vote to the floor to end this shutdown.

"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free..." this quote embodies what this nation was founded on, immigration. The earliest immigrants were from Asia over 16,000 years ago. Technically, the first settlers from Europe were "illegal immigrants". Now is the time to become a nation of compassion and welcome people from all over the globe, especially if they are fleeing violence, or persecution, not the time to build an ineffective and expensive wall.

Sign this petition to let Mitch Mcconnell and this President know we want the shutdown to end, and don't jeopardize the millions of Americans that will be impacted by this shutdown.
