Mistreatment of special needs children

Mistreatment of special needs children
Why this petition matters
As many of you know our son Dallas is Autistic and non verbal. On May 25th, 2022 I got a phone call that’s a parents worst nightmare. I believe it’s time to go public with this! Dallas’s school called me and said an incident happened at the school and wouldn’t specify what happened, all she told me was that DCS is involved and I should get a phone call from them. My husband and I have a very close relationship with Dallas OT occupational therapist, So we immediately called her and asked her if she knew anything. His therapist visits his school and does his therapy with him weekly. She said she was the one that reported the incident. That My husband and I are not in any trouble and neither is Dallas. She stated what happened has had her sick to her stomach and she can’t sleep. We immediately asked is it sexual? She said no it’s not sexual. She couldn’t tell us anything because she could get fired. All night my husband and I couldn’t sleep thinking the worst things possible of what happened to our son. The next morning I was tired of waiting. I called DCS they couldn’t tell me anything. I even called the principal and expressed my anger that I need to know what happened to my son. I called the coordinator that works for my sons therapy. I knew they were trying to sweep this under the rug. Finally his OT told us the truth on what she witnessed. Two separate occasions once she had her back turned and heard something and the second time she witnessed it with her own eyes. Dallas was licking a lot and to stop him from licking his teacher and paraprofessionals were spraying Dallas in his face with a spray bottle and laughing about it to stop him from licking… Dallas immediately dropped to the floor and started crying. Again my son is on the Autism spectrum..he is non verbal.. he can’t tell me what the teachers were doing to him. This apparently has been going on the entire year because the teacher admitted that’s how they stop him from stimming. His OT quickly acted and grabbed Dallas and redirected him to play. My poor son was covering his eyes and crying. His OT had to leave and walked out of the classroom and immediately called and reported these teachers and paraprofessionals. We did not send our son back to this school. He will be relocated in a totally different school next year that specializes in Autism. We’ve asked for the report and they won’t release it so we can contact a lawyer and press charges. There’s still an open case and these teachers still could be fired. This all took place in Washington County School District at Ruth Anne Monroe Elementary. I won’t release names just yet until this case is closed and people pay for the damage they’ve caused my son. Dallas is deathly afraid of any spray bottle now. We can’t even clean with a spray bottle without Dallas covering his eyes. There needs to be justice for my son and people need to pay for what they caused him. Unfortunately we’ve learned you can’t trust the school system to protect our children. Please Share and help us get justice for our son and all special needs children of abuse!!!!!
