Missouri S&T has recently implemented a vaccine mandate for all faculty and student workers, giving no option for once a week testing and are in the process of developing a vaccine mandate for students in general. The goal of this petition is to stop the university from mandating the vaccine for students. 

This  petition is NOT a anti-vaccine petition. We simply believe that getting the COVID-19 vaccine should be a personal choice, and we do not want the university to decide what we can/can't do with our bodies regarding our personal health decisions. We also do not believe that the university should be allowed to require the COVID-19 vaccine as a condition for future enrollment. 

Missouri S&T has also seen no increase of COVID-19 cases since lifting the mask mandate a few weeks ago, in fact, there has been a decrease of cases. Because of this, we also see this as another reason that a vaccine mandate is not necessary. If we are following the science and the numbers, neither a mask mandate or vaccine mandate are necessary.

As stated before, this petition is not meant to be an anti-vaccine petition and we are in no way discouraging others from getting the vaccine. We simply believe that each student has the right, granted by the U.S. Constitution, to make their own personal decisions regarding their health, and that no entity has the right to force a person to make a medical decision they do not believe to be necessary for themselves.
