Please help me support an application of clemency that was recently submitted to the Governor of Missouri, for Mr. Michael Silas.

Michael is currently incarcerated at the Western Missouri Correction Center and has now served over 30 years on a life without possibility of parole sentence. 

In review of the case, you will see that Michael was falsely charged as the shooter in the homicide case that resulted in his incarceration. When looking at the documents and statements from the current file combined with the information from the original investigation it is readily apparent that Michael was not the actual shooter in the case. In fact, in the original investigative report, a codefendant in the case implicated the other suspect that was implicated as having been the one to shoot the victim. This man has now come forward and admitted that he was the man who committed the murder, as have two of the original witnesses, his girlfriend at the time, and her mother. They have all come forward offering sworn statements that it was in fact that man who was originally implicated that had actually killed the victim, after the victim had tried to break into his girlfriends apartment, and that Michael Silas was not the shooter in this case. The two codefendants have both been released from prison, yet Michael is the only one who is still incarcerated. He has currently served over 30 years in prison. Without support for this clemency application he may very well spend the rest of his life in prison. This would be a tragic injustice.
