Olivia Westbrook started this petition to Missouri Government

The SSWAG aims to create awareness and promote policy change for the mandate of social workers in all Missouri schools to help implement technology for social good/needs. Our group hypothesizes if legislation is passed requiring school districts to have a school social worker in each school in the district, then the students will be able to readily access social work services in person or through technology. Additionally, our project connects the Grand Challenge of using technology for social good within schools to provide students and families easier access to resources. SSWAG has practiced professional social work behavior by participating in engagement & assessment, intervention, and evaluation throughout our project. Further, we developed an intervention plan to be used in advocating for the needs of our target population (students grades 5th-12th) as well as to educate and raise awareness within our community for change. By implementing this intervention plan, we hope to achieve our goals of collecting data to assess need for mental health resources in schools and the community needs and advocating for the state of MO to require social workers in every public school district to provide students the opportunity for more positive outcomes.
