Jennifer Rokosch started this petition to Missoula City Council

The beloved historic homes near John Toole Park on 4th Street E, Missoula, Montana are under consideration for deconstruction to allow for the development of an upscale river front condo complex.

This development is being proposed by the WGM group, likely to be finalized at the public Missoula City Council meeting on December 16th. This project would call for the demolition of these historic houses in order for the development of a 40+ unit condo building with a 75 spot underground parking garage. Approximately  25% of the units would be rental apartments while the rest would be upscale condos going at market value.

These historical homes provide the Missoula community with a treasured piece of history. Some of these houses date back to as early as 1908 and add undeniable character to Missoula's hipstrip. These houses not only provide a reflection of history and character, but also serve as affordable housing.

The current market value for river front condos in Missoula falls between a half-million to one million dollars. However, the average annual income for Missoula is around $42,000 with 19.8% of the population falling below the poverty line. Not to mention there are at least 40+ condos already listed on the market with more to be developed across from the Osprey Stadium (Ogren Park at Allegiance Field).

Please tell Missoula City Council to preserve our beloved markers of history and say no to WGM's proposal. We need to focus on building up the members of the Missoula community that are already here with affordable housing, not more upscale condos.

***Please attend the Missoula City Council Meeting on Dec. 16th and make your voices heard.
