The Mission Prep class of 2021 has just found out that our graduation will be held on the football field with each family being able to have three seats, including one for the graduate. Traditionally, Mission’s graduation is held in the Mission Plaza. Last year due to Covid, the ceremony was moved to Madonna Meadow where families stayed in their cars, watched the seniors, & celebrated their accomplishments. This was a great alternative since we were unable to gather in the usual way. It came as a surprise to all of us that we would not be doing the same this year. Administrators came to this decision without consulting a single senior or parent for their opinion or preference. By having graduation on the football field, we will have students who could be unable to attend their own high school graduation due to health concerns. Only allowing two guests excludes even immediate family members from watching their senior graduate. We respectfully request that the location of our graduation be reconsidered in order to create a more inclusive ceremony for the class of 2021 & their families.
