Dr. Beau Rees is a supportive and active superintendent for and with the student bodies of all schools in MISD. In the case of the assault of a student by members of the Montgomery Football team, we believe that Dr. Rees was not withholding information, rather collecting the facts and getting the true story before making an announcement to all parents about the situation. In addition we believe that the football players are not the ones he is trying to protect rather the students who were affected by their actions, as assault is a violation of personal boundaries and is extremely embarrassing. From reading the petition sponsored by the Montgomery Gazette, we have gleaned that most of their basis for requesting his resignation and the basis for many of the participants signing is based on pure assumption. Let’s not be too hasty in our actions. Allow the case to be handled regarding the Montgomery football players and for Dr. Rees to defend himself before going as far as requesting his resignation.
