In my school, there are NO mirrors in the girls bathrooms. However, there are in the boy’s bathrooms. Small, portable mirrors only work for your face. Another thing is, we can’t have our phones. No camera to look at ourselves, nothing. But the boys do, which is so unfair. It lowers our self esteem. You wouldnt know to fix your hair and have all this anxiety all day of not knowing how you look. For example, lets say some bully puts a “kick me” sign on your back. You would have no idea unless someone told you. In which, it’s middle school, unless you’re their friend, THEY DO NOT CARE. I have no idea why the girls don’t have mirror and the boys do, but it’s just not fair. Like what do they think we’re gonna do? A lot of times, after gym/athletics, us girls need a quick refresh on makeup, skincare, hair, etc. It’s so hard with no mirror. There have been too many times when i’ve poked my eyes with my mascara. It’s cocky, rude, and incredibly sexist. If our school thinks its better for us to have no mirrors because it “lowers our self esteem” with mirrors, it does the exact opposite. It lowers our self esteem without mirrors. Knowing what we look like during the day is helpful for pimples, hair, makeup, and so much more. I’ll constantly see the boys fixing their hair and looking in the mirror, and they don’t want us girls to look in the mirror? At my elementary school we had mirrors in all the bathrooms. What’s the deal here? If they want what’s best for their students, add mirrors in the girl’s bathrooms. Please sign this petition to give us mirrors! :))
