Install Lights Along the Burlington Bikepath

My name is Jackson Elder and I am a 9th grader at BHS. As part of our final exam, my english teacher assigned something called "The Make A Change Project". The Make A Change Project is where students identify a problem or issue in their community and make strides to fix or resolve the problem.
The task that I chose to take on was to try and install lights along the sides of the Burlington bike path north of the downtown area. The bikepath is a widely used piece of Burlington and everyone from kids to elders uses it. The Bikepath allows connection from one end of the city to the other and promotes business downtown. During the night, the Bikepath is very dark. Adding lights on the Bikepath would allow people to use it in the earlier hours or later at night. In the winter the sun sets very early and most people want to take advantage of the Bikepath either to exercise or walk their dog etc. Lights would help people use the Bikepath at all hours. Finally, lights would help people stay safe, from avoiding ice or other hazards to dispelling sketchy or dangerous people who hang around the Bikepath. Thank you for your signatures!
