Within the past few years, the age to buy tobacco products in Minnesota, and many other states, was changed to 21, in an attempt to lower underage smoking/vaping. I feel it should be changed back to 18. When you turn 18, you're legally considered an adult. You can vote, you can go to select clubs, you can join the military, but you can no longer smoke. In many countries in the world you can purchase tobacco products and alcoholic beverages. I feel changing the age to purchase tobacco products to 21 was a fruitless attempt to combat underage smoking, when its really up to parents to better watch their children when it comes to this. If every other country in the world can have a tobacco age of 18, why can't we? Vaping/smoking is a choice that adults can make, persons of the age 18 and older. It is a social activity, and a stress relief activity, and especially as of lately, many of us are stressed out. Not to mention by raising the age, it has impacted local businesses. I think of a corner store here in my town that was affected by this. A large part of their sales are tobacco products, and they lost a large part of their market. Their should be better education reforms to combat underage smoking, not raising the age. Sign this to get the age back to 18!
