Bridget Gernander started this petition to Minneapolis Public Schools Superintendent and School Board

In 2012 Minneapolis Public Schools made the decision to switch from traditional school buses to Metro transit for high school students. Over the years, some high schools have received dedicated bus service. This means the school name on the bus and drop off at campus.

North and South High Schools have been turned down for this service. Metro Transit says it wouldn't be cost effective. But what they are really saying is separate can be equal for our school transportation and that is not right. All schools should get some level of direct service or MPS should consider returning to the traditional school bus model where all schools can be served equitably.

We call on MPS and Metro Transit stop this disparate treatment of our city schools. Some level of dedicated routes with the high school name on the bus should be required for every high school.
