Many vehicle owners are fed up with the Namibian authorities enforcing questionable laws and regulations in regards to LED light bars on vehicles. As road users we believe that the use of these lights betters our visibility, therefore avoiding road accidents. There is an argument that the type of lights blind other road users, but the truth of the matter is any light source on high beam, will blind any road user. What must be encourage is the proper use of these types of lights with respect to other road users. To date, there is not record of how many accidents these types of lights have caused on our roads. Hence the need for the transport regulator in this country to amend the current traffic act in regards to the use of LED Headlights, LED Driving Lights, LED Flood Lights, LED Spotlights etc.
The aim of this petition is to appeal to the Ministry of Works and Transport to revise the current traffic act in accordance with the latest technologies available today taking into account the benefits of these technologies.
