WE DEMAND TAX EXEMPTION ON SANITARY PADS!! Menstruation is not a luxurious choice we make.

It is ironic to note that in progressive India, items of optional 'shringaar' like sindoor (vermilion), bindis and bangles will not be taxed at all, but sanitary pads will be taxed at 12 per cent under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. A woman in India may be married/ unmarried, Hindu/non-Hindu, and can also make the choice of wearing or not wearing sindoor, or bindis or bangles for that matter. But 'menstruation' is not a choice for us to make. It is a natural part of every woman's life for a large part of her life. If empowerment of woman is what the government wants to achieve then tax exemption on sanitary pads should be implemented. HELP US REMOVE THE BARRIERS. LET US ALL MAKE THIS HAPPEN SOON.
