#Stop the Mining #We don't need Mica. We need our children
My name is Jayanie Murada and I am a 6th grader from The Shri Ram School- Moulsari. Once I was scrolling through the interent when I saw a video uploaded by Refnery29 which explained all about Mica which got me really disturbed and thinking . That very day I decided to start this petition and- #Bring Justice to the young lives . So here it goes :-
Mica : A product used in many industries. Mainly paints and cosmetics . It is a shining substance used to further enhance the appeal of cosmetics etc . It certainly makes your skin glowy and attractive but what it also does is - Destroy the lives of Indian children. Mica, a silicate mineral, has its main roots in the indian subcontinent. Jharkand, a state in India, has this mineral in abudance and many mines too. Those mines are dark, deep and hollow and stone and sands can collapse the mine anytime. Despite being aware of the dangers, the children in Jharkand are forced to work tirelessly in these mines. When asked ' What would you be doing if you weren't mining at this time their answer is simply ' We would be starving to death'. And, they aren't lying. Considering the rural conditions of Jharkand, all its residents, young and old alike have to do this ruthless job in order to earn a living. Mica mining can cause many illnesses and injuries including cuts, broken bones, respiratory problems and sometimes even death. Though the mining of Mica is a serious issue, it is the life blood of many rural areas. We must bring a change ensuring that all local residents don't go hungry and a complete #Stop for children to do this torturous job. And so we shall and so we will .
