Right To Information Act or RTI Act 2005 is really a democratic Act in India, by which people can seek information from Public Authorities, i.e. bodies / organizations those run under Govt of India or any Provincial State Govt control using people's tax  money form the exchequer. No doubt, it is a good Pro-citizen Act.

But the current definition of  Information   , I think is incomplete ; as under current definition of Information, people can't seek any kind of explanation, reason or logic behind any kind of new law/policy/rule/decision made/adopted/amended by the Public Authorities. As a person working for Men's Rights I often face this problem, whenever I file RTIs with ministries responsible for law making. The moment Central Public Information Officers (CPIO) [means the officers who reply RTI queries filed  by citizens, on behalf of the Public Authorities running under Govt of India control] or State Public Information Officers (SPIO) [means the officers who reply RTI queries filed by citizens on behalf of Public Authorities running under Provincial or State Govt control] see that I have sought certain reason/logic/explanation behind any new law, policy, rule making / law, rule or policy amendment; they just take the route  of section 2f of the RTI Act to avert reply. Furthermore some CPIOs or SPIOs also skip answers if  meaning of any particular legal term mentioned in the Public Authority's website is sought, showing that same section 2f of the RTI act.

Hence the current definition of Information u/s 2f of the RTI Act doesn't make the law complete citizen friendly. What is the use of RTI Act, if people can't seek explanations, logic, reason behind any action committed/ taken up/ adopted by any public authority???

So as a solution, I suggest every RTI enthusiast of India come together and demand a widened definition of Information u/s 2f of the RTI Act, where CPIOs or SPIOs will be bound to show plausible reasons / explanations / logic on behalf of their respective Public Authorities for any action committed/taken up/adopted by the said Public Authorities. Only a complete and compact definition of Information u/s 2f of the RTI Act can make the Act actual citizen friendly.
