The residents of WMZ 7B and 6 in the district of Kenora Ontario would like to have the implication of a mandatory guide requirement for non resident deer hunters in the area.

By doing this it will help provide jobs for local small businesses, guides and local lodges in the area. This will help bring income into the hands of the people that deserve it instead of 4 hunters coming up here renting 1 hotel room from a large company and spending very little money in our community as they hunt as they wish. It will benefit the local area providing accountability for the hunters the guides acquire making the forest a safer and more friendly environment during hunting season. This will help with the trespassing issues and conflicts associated with land owners as well as the poaching or waste of our valuable whitetail deer population helping out our local law enforcement in the long run.

In the kenora district we have the potential to have a world class deer population with potential world records and valuable meat many local residents depend on to feed their families. With the proper management of this through the guide requirement this is an accomplishable goal.

The mandatory guide requirement is already in affect in other provinces and other parts of Ontario and is working well! As an example the Fort Frances and Rainy River area already has been using this and have been seeing a very positive outcome in their area. The Kenora area would like to have this option also as it is where we all live and where we all hunt and enjoy the outdoors it is our area not theirs!

We request the implementation of a mandatory guide requirement for non resident deer hunters in the WMZ of 7B and 6! We require a change for our people, safety, wildlife and businesses!
