Streamline Recruitment through GATE

Every year more than 30+ PSU's complete their recruitment for Management Trainee/Executive Trainee/Scientist through GATE exam.
While every year more than 8 Lakh students take the GATE exam the total number of vacancies floated in almost all PSU's combined is in few hundreds. Even the ratio of number of vacancies to Qualified candidates is very minimal and the recruitment model followed by these organisations is further exacerbating the unemployment problem among engineering Graduates.
Every PSU makes the shortlist of candidates for interview right from Rank 1 and same list of candidates are shortlisted for interviews in most of the organisations. This results in a single candidate with a very good rank get multiple job offers while other candidates who fall just behind do not even make it to any interview shortlist.
The recruitment of MT/ET/Scientist should follow a similar pattern as adopted by various Nationalised Banks via IBPS. While a candidate already pays Rs 1500 for taking the GATE exam, candidates are further required to pay Rs 200 - Rs 500 for applying in various PSUs even before the exam is conducted. The total cost of applying for GATE exam and various PSU comes around Rs 5000 which is not easily affordable for every single one of us.
If the recruitment in PSU's via GATE can be streamlined, more number of candidates can get JOBs in various organisation instead of single candidate getting selected in more than 10 different companies. One exam, one interview; a panel of interviewers should take interview on behalf of all PSU and the every candidate should be provided with a job offer according to his choice and marks.
I appeal to all current and future GATE aspirants to please share this concern as much as possible so that recruitment process becomes easier and streamlined for the candidates.
