Over the past couple of months, JNU students are protesting against an unreasonable fee hike imposed on them by it's draconian administration led by the VC M Jagdesh Kumar. The current fee structure will affect the future of around 40% of its students hailing from not so privileged background. The protesting students refused to take admission in the current winter semester beginning from January, 2020. But things got worse when 50-60 masked mobs including women attacked the protesting students and professors on January 5th, 2020 at around 6:30 pm. JNU Students' Union president Aishee Ghosh, Professor Sucharita Sen along with 26 other students and professors have received severe injury and have been admitted to AIIMS Trauma Centre. The mobs are called from outside by ABVP, affiliated students wing of BJP/RSS. JNU alumni living outside of the campus are also attacked by the mobs.

The JNU VC who has neither taken a stand nor had face-to-face dialogue with the students and teachers, has defined this situation as a mere 'clash between student groups'. The VC has not taken any action against the students who invited these mobs from outside nor any case has been registered by Delhi Police against the attackers. M Jagdesh Kumar is a strategic player who is incessantly misusing his power and authority to disrupt the functioning of JNU. He has no competency and understanding on how to run a premier class university and how to address his students' issues. Therefore, we demand revocation of M Jagdesh Kumar from the post of Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University as such an eminent university might cease to exist under his authority.
