Due to the number of accidents, near misses and inability to safely make left turns or cross this intersection as a pedestrian, we are petitioning the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure of the Province of British Columbia to address this dangerous situation by installing either traffic lights or a roundabout. Anyone who lives in Hope or travels through knows that during summer and especially on long weekends traffic through town gets very congested. Since the development of the south side of the intersection, traffic bottlenecks happen regularly forcing drivers and pedestrians to take dangerous chances when making left turns or proceeding straight through. Today there was an accident there with minor injuries but next time it could be fatal. This intersection needs to be controlled before more injuries or deaths occur.
