Passive leadership has no place amongst this global crisis. These are people’s lives; if our leaders are too slow to act in a bold manner, you, your family member or your friend could pay the price.

It is clear that the Zambian Goverment’s approach to preventing any further spread is in slow motion. First world nations around the world have banned ALL entry to contain COVID-19. Nations with robust health systems, seemingly failing to cope. Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya must impose a total travel ban, at least until the end of June 2020 to ensure Zambia does not enter a total health crisis.

Hon. Chilufya, please do not wait until COVID-19 numbers enter the thousands, but take the shining example of Botswana and Rwanda to protect the people. Borders and specifically international airports must ALL close now to international arrivals temporarily. Only cargo and goods vessels must be permitted passage  to ensure the least impact on our economy.

Our already weak and compromised public health system does not have the capacity to deal with said crisis. We urge you to act boldly to save the Zambian public of preventable loss of life. Furthermore, where is President Lungu?
