THE NEED FOR GOVERNMENT TO INVEST IN LOCALLY PRODUCED SANITIZER

WHY THE FACULTY OF PHARMACY AND PHARMACEUTICAL  SCIENCES, KNUST AND OTHER LOCAL PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES SHOULD BE RESOURCED TO INCREASE THEIR PRODUCTION OF HAND SANITIZERS.

I have taken notice over the fees days and have realised that, in the midst of Coronavirus outbreak in Ghana , some Ghanaians are exploiting the vulnerable through the sales of Hand SANITIZER.

As I write to you, a hand SANITIZER that ideally should have cost  GHc10.00  in now GHc 80.00 and those that will cost GHc 15.00 on a normal day is also costing the ordinary Ghanaian GHc150.00.

On a 2nd thought I decided not to blame these business persons,  because in a normal market price will always shoot in direct response to increase demand.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Talking of students locally producing our own Sanitizers, here's one i came across, "PHARMACLEAN HAND SANITIZER"produced by the KNUST Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. I believe with little assistance from the ministry,  these students can produce enough and also sell at a discounted price that most Ghanaians can afford.

2. Other local PHARMACEUTICAL companies should also be resourced in order to produce more and sell at a moderate price set by the ministry.
