Ruby Rose is a four year old Irish girl living in Christchurch, NZ. She was born here in 17, while her parents had been on Essential Skill Work Visas. Ruby suffers from an extremely rare disease (only 70 cases worldwide) called TBC1 Domain Containing Kinase, (TBCK). The disorder is a life limiting autosomal recessive neurological disease that causes intellectual disability, epilepsy, and developmental delay. Ruby now must go home to Ireland, as her visa application to remain abroad has been rejected. She was never granted full NZ residence due to her health needs not meeting the requirements. I want to stop things like this from happening to children in the future. As a young woman growing up in NZ, myself having family members with limiting disabilities, I am shocked and appalled by Ruby's situation and I want to prevent it from happening again.
