Requesting the NZ Govt carry out a full inquiry into current feeding support services

Breastfeeding is NOT the most natural thing in the world. It requires support and practice. Every mother and baby has a unique anatomy and a unique set of circumstances which can lead to a positive breastfeeding experience or a negative one.
If “breast is best”, the support services available need to reflect this with timely and thorough care to every mother in NZ who asks for it. Breastfeeding is not just a 9 - 5 Monday to Friday event - it needs to be supported 24 hours 7 days a week.
And if a mother cannot breastfeed, she needs educated and supportive advice on how to safely feed her baby whether it be through pumping and bottle feeding, or formula and bottle feeding.
This petition is calling on a select committee to lead an inquiry into the current support services available to breastfeeding mothers and an analysis on how these systems can flourish and be funded to support every single mother in New Zealand who chooses to breastfeed or use formula.
