Email Correspondence with Medical Professionals

As a parent of a child with special needs, my schedule is challenging and I need to get information including appointments, questions, issues and various other information from various people in the medical community and email correspondence is what works best for me. Why can’t I communicate with doctors, occupational therapist, physiotherapist and alike through email and get a response? Especially since we are in an era where technology is key in our advancement. In the past, I was able to send emails and receive information based on what worked for my time. Now I have to call, leave a message, if I don’t get the person and wait for a call back. Usually, my free time is after hours when I can get my correspondence done. Therefore, eliminating the phone tag and waiting for mail by postal services, saved me time and made things more convenient for myself and other families like ours. This new policy was created to protect the medical professionals from having any accountability and had no input from parents like myself. A lot of us need this paper trail to help get through the system, otherwise we are left only advocating without justification and everything becomes hearsay. Why don’t our rights matter? Please sign this petition and have this policy removed from institutions like Sick Kids Hospital, ErinOak Kids and other CCAC umbrellaing agencies that are governed by the Ministry of Health. We need to advocate for our children and need your help. Thanks for your support
