'I wanted my son to die’ says 55-year old Lakshmi Devi. Her only son, Ricky Lahoria, aged 25, died of drug overdose about a year ago.

National  Drug Dependence Treatment Centre' s (NDDTC) report in 2019 showed that there are 16 crore alcohol users (2.9 crore dependent users), 3.1 crore cannabis users (25 lakh dependent users), 2.3 crore opioid users ( 28 lakh dependent users) and 77 lakh inhalant users ( 8.5 lakh dependent users) within the country.

Is Substance or Drug use a flaw in character? No!

This is a disorder.

And people who have been trapped in this circle of addiction need our help!

A fight against addiction is a fight against the deepest darkest and strongest part of yourself, it is a fight of the good over evil within you, and such a fight cannot be fought alone.

Addicts several times lose the support of their loved ones due to behaviors that the drug makes them do, they are often alone. Addicts are several times our youth, our young, our children who get into the clutches of something they don't entirely understand. Such people need us, and the government of our making, to help them and provide them immediate support in order to recover and contribute to the development of this nation.

What about the pre-existing number, you ask? That number is always busy. And when not busy-unavailable.

#SoberMeUp is a campaign by six college students, this is us doing our bit for the community, join us and sign the petition to help sober the country up.
