Vishal Vig started this petition to Ministry of Finance and

Rising fuel prices are shaking the budget of a common man who pays tax honestly.

As we are all aware, the Fuel (Petrol, Diesel, LPG etc) have taxes been levied by Central and State Governments, Excise tax by central government and VAT by State government respectively.

Base Price Breakup - https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/rising-fuel-cost-pushes-india-inc-to-hike-prices/articleshow/81236215.cms

If you review the price break up in the above given link, Excise duty charged is more than the base price of the fuel ( more than 100% tax on base price), isn't that a LOOT. On total Petrol price of 86.30 we pay 56.61 tax (including Dealer's commission)

Note: the above taxes does not fluctuate with international prices.

Well, as a citizen, I understand that it is our individual responsibility to build this great nation and we need to cover our fiscal deficit.

What about the Honest tax payer (middle-class) who is getting burdened by taxes to feed to poor and paying taxes for usage of any Good and Service.

What can be a probable solution:

  1. Bring Fuel prices under GST Network, petroleum today is essential commodity not a luxury one.
  2. Incentivise the honest tax payer with fuel and toll tax reimbursement for some period when IT is filled annually. The Government collects tax year around and also earns interest on the collected tax.  By doing this, you are easing some tax burden on the existing tax payer. Also, it would be a good reason to widen the tax base. When honest tax payer get incentives, the others will follow.
  3. if there any state VAT is being calculated on Dealer's commission, the needs to be looked into.

I request all the people of India whom-so-ever receive this petition to kindly sign and forward it to your network on social media so that we may hit the 1 million people so that the government should take action to control and reduce the prices of the same.
