Why don't airlines pay for their reschedules and delays?

My parents aged 74 and 70, travelled from Bangalore to Jammu today (20-Feb-2017. They had to catch a flight from Bangalore at 5AM followed by a flight from  Delhi which was originally scheduled to fly at 9.45 AM. Few days back we got the information that flight has been rescheduled to 11.35 AM. Everything was OK but the flight was delayed and finally took off at 1.51PM.

I have two things to say.

  1. If we reschedule flights we have to pay heavy cancellation charges, However same is not applicable for airlines.
  2. If we miss a flight because of reaching late at airport, we pay heavy fines, upto the level of no refund. However, if there are delays from airlines, they can round it off by giving a sandwich worth Rs. 300.

Please sign my petition to Minister of Civil Aviation, so that stricter norms can be created for airlines (Service providers) where end customer is not harassed because of changes made my Airlines.

My parents had to go through a very tough time today and I don't want anybody to go through the same ordeal.
