Many of us like me and my family had booked Airline tickets (domestic and international) before the lockdown for travel in the months of April, May and June 2020. Due to the pandemic all flights were cancelled. The Airlines, as per guidelines received from the Ministry of Civil Aviation is offering refunds on tickets for all bookings made and payment received from 25th March 2020 to 03rd May 2020 for travel during the same period. This obviously is an eyewash as hardly anyone would have booked tickets when there is a lockdown already announced by the Government.

For travel between 15th of March 2020 to 15th June 2020, the airlines are offering rebooking if residual validity of tickets/ fare at the time of change is less than 6 months then booking can be made till 30th Sept 2020 and if residual validity of tickets/ fare at the time of change is more than 6 months then booking can be made till 31st March 2021. Also, there is a further attached condition that booking in same/higher RBD is allowed but no down selling of Fares/RBD is allowed and any fare difference (obviously increase in fare) will be collected.

This is grossly unjust as you or your family would not like to travel in the near future due to the Pandemic as well as the huge economic hit due to the lockdown. To impose compulsory travel is unfair and to not refund fares of cancelled flights is unjust. Please support my petition for full refund of tickets by airlines for cancelled flights.
