Saving trees on one side of roads being widened
This petition had 7 supporters
Many national Highways and state highways are being upgraded from two lanes to four lanes and so on. For this purpose additional land is being acquired on both sides of the existing road and standing green trees are felled on both sides. If widening is done on one side only which has lesser number of standing trees, the trees on the other side can be saved. This can be done easily in open areas. In any case compensation is to be paid by the govt. either on one side or both sides.
If this policy is implemented, lakhs of standing green trees can be saved every year.
