Prashant Kumar started this petition to Minister of Primary & Secondary Education and Sakala and

As per the decision of Karnataka govt. taken on Wednesday, June 10th 2020 to stop online live classes for students from LKG till class 5, may be very discouraging for affected children.

While the intent behind the decision is to avoid screen time for kids of younger age, there are adverse effects on their fundamental education, (virtual) social meeting with their teachers, fellow students etc. The online classes, in current situation, was the best alternate to keep child's primary education go uninterrupted, give stimulation to their minds and keep the day in routine.

As the govt. allows kids to watch recorded videos instead of online classes, the screen time is not really avoided. A live online class would in turn be interactive and give the child to feel almost physical class like environment, would ensure continuous learning curve. There had been just a week of online class for my child of Grade 1 and she thoroughly seemed to enjoy it, was looking forward everyday. Kids feel more encouraged to even work on offline assignments and/or work-sheets as long as it's followed by an online class.

I think the hon'ble education minister of Karnataka Mr. S. Suresh Kumar should look into this matter again from all the aspects re-consider the decision of allowing online classes for those kids whose parents have the consent. Please join me by signing this petition if you too are aligned to this.

Thank you!
