Dear Minister of health,

Considering the outbreak of Corona virus in various parts of the world including Iran, some of new Iranian immigrants and international students who enter Canada might have been exposed to the virus before their arrival to Canada. These people are required to go through self-quarantine, however many of them struggle with the challenge of renting a residential place for the 14 days of their isolation. Members of the Iranian-Canadian community ask the honourable Minister of Health to facilitate self isolation of Iranian new immigrants and international students during the first 14 days of their presence in  Canada by designating particular residential locations in which they can stay as soon as they arrive.

During the last two weeks, the Iranian Canadian community has been strongly motivated  to initiate precautionary actions against the Covid-19 in good faith. For example numerous Persian New Year events have been cancelled by the event planners in spite of the fact that those event planners had already spent lots of money, effort and time and each cancellation has cost  many of them loss of lots of money. Nevertheless, they have decided to make this difficult decision due to the sense of responsibility they feel for the health of all Canadians. And it is noteworthy that the community strongly believes  that their decision is a right decision. Another good example of such initiations has been organizing large groups of volunteers to support the people in self-quarantine during the 14 days of their isolation by managing their grocery shopping and leaving the purchased items behind the door of their places.

However, the challenge of designating specific residential places for self isolation of Iranian new immigrants and international students who have nowhere to stay during their self-quarantine is something that the Iranian Canadian community needs governmental support for that. All of us deeply care for the well being of all Canadians. As the result we ask the Ministry of Health to facilitate  self- quarantine of Iranian new immigrants and international students during the first 14 days of their presence in Canada by designating particular residential locations.
