End the UK's Support for UN Singling Out of Israel

Every year, the General Assembly, the Human Rights Council, the Commission on the Status of Women, the World Health Organization and UNESCO single out Israel through disproportionate and one-sided resolutions, while neglecting the plight of millions of human rights victims worldwide.

At the General Assembly in 2018, for example, Israel was targeted by 21 one-sided resolutions, with only one each on Iran, Syria, North Korea, Crimea, Myanmar, and the United States, and zero resolutions adopted or introduced on the human rights situations in China, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Cuba, Turkey, Pakistan, Vietnam, Algeria, or on 175 other countries.

As shown by the UN Watch database, the UK annually votes for more than 70% of the anti-Israel resolutions adopted by the General Assembly.

Focusing the UN human rights agenda disproportionately on Israel, while ignoring gross and systematic violations in the rest of the world, constitutes politicized, selective, partial, and subjective behavior. It also goes against the equality principle enshrined in the UN Charter and the values of universality, impartiality, objectivity, and non-selectivity set forth in the Human Rights Council’s founding document, UNGA Resolution 60/251.

Urge the UK to uphold the UN’s founding principles now. Call on the UK to end any and all support for the UN’s obsessive scapegoating of Israel, the world’s only Jewish state. The UN must put an end to bigotry and prejudice and promote the human rights of all.
