Salute Marshall Islands' Principled Opposition to UN Singling Out of Israel
Why this petition matters

Dear Foreign Minister Silk,
I congratulate The Marshall Islands for taking a principled stand at the United Nations to oppose many of the resolutions that single out Israel for differential and discriminatory treatment.
Your moral stance on this issue is crucial because, as a democracy, The Marshall Islands is respected for upholding the UN’s own declared principles of equality, universality, and non-discrimination.
By opposing the United Nations’ anti-Israel bigotry, The Marshall Islands sets an example for the world that discrimination in any forum should not be tolerated.
The UN’s pattern and practice of discrimination against the Jewish state is shocking. For example, as shown by the UN Watch database, at the General Assembly in 2019, Israel was targeted by 21 one-sided resolutions -- with only one each on Iran, Syria, North Korea, Crimea, Myanmar, and the United States.
Meanwhile, there were zero resolutions adopted or introduced on the human rights situations in China, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Cuba, Turkey, Pakistan, Vietnam, Algeria, or on 175 other countries.
Likewise, since its founding in 2006, the UN Human Rights Council has adopted more resolutions against Israel than on Iran, Syria and North Korea combined; convened more urgent sessions and inquiries on Israel than on any other country; and continues to single out Israel alone under a permanent agenda item at every session.
All governments must be held accountable for their human rights record. Yet the practice of focusing the UN human rights agenda disproportionately on Israel, while ignoring gross and systematic violations in the rest of the world, constitutes politicized, selective, partial, and subjective behavior.
By allocating scarce UN resources to the production of one-sided and politicized reports targeting Israel, victims in places like China, Pakistan and Zimbabwe are ignored.
Once again, we salute your principled stand in opposing this discrimination, and we hope that The Marshall Islands will continue to demonstrate moral leadership at the United Nations by opposing double standards, selectivity, and the politicization of human rights.
