The number of Celiac patients has been increasing alarmingly in India. These include even small children who have to avoid food stuff containing gluten all their life. The present labeling regulations donot require mentioning whether the contents of a packet containing gluten or not. In the developed world, it is mandatory to so and even stack Gluten-free food stuff separately. Celiac patients suffer seriously if they consume gluten found in wheat, barley, oats etc. Therefore, this petition urges the Minister of Food Processing Industries of Govt. Of India to issue direction to mention gluten status under Allergen information on the labels of all food packet.
