The Ministry has directed the Ontario School Boards to return to quadmesters and cohorts next school year. Why are we taking away our kids right normal?  We are in a completely different situation than last school year as teachers and students will be vaccinated. Once again, students are being asked to sacrifice by not being able to engage in social relationships at school, sports or clubs and have to go to the same class all day everyday for a week. We have taken away their lockers and cafeterias and libraries and put directional tape on the ground for them to follow.    We are asking too much of our kids. You need to reconsider.  On top of that, high school ends at 1:30 now in the afternoon. Students miss 70- 90 minutes of instructional time a day everyday for “study hall”.  In the ministry approved plan this time is supposed to be programmed and supervised but this is not what is happening. Drive by a school at 1:30 and you will see that this is the real end of the day. How do you intend for them to get the curriculum in when they are short 90 minutes a day? Changes need to be made now. 65% of Ontario will be vaccinated by the end of May.  Why are you recycling last years plan for September when we are facing a very different scenario. It’s urgent for the well being of our children that we have them return to school with some sense of normalcy. Quadmester cohorts don’t work.
