Considering the shortage of certain professions such as doctors in the UK. Universities are requesting students with predictions no lower than AAA to be accepted on to a university course. Leaving it for teachers to predict students fate. The UCU also cites research from 2016 suggesting as few as 16% of predictions for three A-levels or equivalent had proved accurate.

As a result, many students are forced to take a gap year to pursue a long career path or settle for less. This system is out of date and needs revamping. Bring back AS levels: it's a national based test, making it accurate, fair and it has no potential to be biased!

Why is this important?

The system is unfair and needs updating. The UK out of 30 major countries worldwide is the only country using the approach of pupils applying on the basis of grades predicted by their teachers. This gives an advantage to international students when applying to UK universities as our current system is deterring UK students.

It's 2019 and time for the UK to change its educational system!
