Provide the Adequate Funding for Special Needs Adults and Children

The funding that families have received in the past from SSAH and Passport assisted families to provide quality of life for the special needs children and adults in our communities. The government's recent changes to this system - a change that families have not supported, and in fact recommended that more funds be allocated for all of the children and adults across Ontario. The wait lists for the funding started in 2007 and the lists continue to grow! Now the government as of April 2012, the SSAH funding for children who turn 18 yrs of age, has ended funding for these people. We need to tell the Government that we will not Accept these conditions, and fight for the children and adults who need this support!!!

I just signed the following petition addressed to: Minister of Community & Social Services - Ontario Government.

Provide the adequate funding for Special Needs Adults and Children

The funding that families have received in the past from SSAH (Special Services at Home) and Passport assisted families to provide quality of life for the special needs children and adults in our communities. The government's recent changes to this system - a change that families have not supported, and in fact recommended that more funds be allocated for all of the children and adults across Ontario. The wait lists for these services started in 2007 and the list continues to grow. The wait list at present is over 5 yrs for these services. Now the government as of April 2012, has ended the SSAH funding for children who turn 18 yrs of age. This means that Joseph Chauvin (our son) in less than one year when he turns 18, will lose all financial assistance from the government. We need to tell the Government that we will not Accept these conditions, and fight for the children and adults who need this support!!!
