Kenny Chong started this petition to Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Malaysia

Malaysian Veterinarians especially the small animal practitioners are facing shortages & unavailability of drugs and medicine to treat their patients due to the veterinary drugs registration and bureaucratic resistance of the Product Registration Department, National Pharmaceutical Control Bureau of the Ministry of Health Malaysia. These shortages have been prolonged for many years and has affected the daily treatment of pet animals all over Malaysia. Our pet’s health has been compromised due to the unavailability of important veterinary drugs and medicine while they are easily available in Malaysia’s neighboring countries.

Malaysian Companion Animal Veterinarians support and request for the Veterinary Pharmaceuticals to be brought under the purview of the Department of Veterinary Services, Ministry of Agriculture and Agro –Based Industry Malaysia. Who better understand veterinary pharmaceuticals other than Veterinarians themselves? Moreover, the veterinary pharmaceuticals are not licensed to be used in human. In this way, it is hope that animals in this country can be treated with the “best and suitable” Veterinary Pharmaceuticals for their well being. This is part of the animal welfare and animal rights very much supported by OIE, WVA, WSAVA, FASAVA, FAVA and other veterinary associations around the world.
