Freddie Doyle started this petition to Minister for Transport and

Since the start of the pandemic last March, theory test centres have remained closed as the government have deemed them as a non-essential service the backlog is nearly at 100,000 people, many people including myself have sent numerous emails to a number of TDs and the Minister for transport Eamon Ryan asking that theory test centres be deemed an essential service, Many people need to get on the road, for example College students, workers, and people with family members who are ill and are in need of  assistance, in the latest easing of restrictions the Taoiseach failed to mention anything about the theory test which put a lot of us into a world of confusion to when they would open back up which is completely unfair on the people waiting for a test, The government have said that non-essential retail can open from the 17th of May but haven’t given a date to when the theory test centres can reopen, many people may agree with me on this many May not but realistically since the first lockdown social distancing hasn’t really been affective in many retail shops with the likes of penny’s, JD Sports etc…. From what I have seen from going into these shops myself, there are many ways theory test centres can open safely and continue doing tests but it seems to me that the government have just pushed this under the carpet, myself and many others are looking for a change and are hoping that with this petition we can show government officials that we need to theory test to be deemed an essential service. If you have a minute we would be very grateful if you could sign this petition to show your support!!!!!!
