Darren O'Rourke TD started this petition to Minister for Transport

Dunshaughlin is a growing town located 30 kms from O'Connell Street. Every day thousands of commuters make the return journey by car or bus to the city, and are forced to endure extended and frustrating journeys due to increasing congestion and service failures - precious time away from family and friends. A train service to Dunshaughlin would complete change this experience. A train service to Dunshaughlin would completely transform the town. After the economic crash the Government stalled their plans to advance the Dunboyne to Navan (through Dunshaughlin) rail line. Their current transport infrastructure plan runs up to 2035 and proposes nothing more than a review of the project starting in 2021, saying the population of Meath is not sufficient!! This is not good enough. In fact, it is nonsense. We deserve better. With this petition we want to show 1) that the people of Dunshaughlin and surrounding areas want a train service, and 2) that they would use a train service if and when it became available. This will help us show that there is AN IMMEDIATE DEMAND for a train service in Dunshaughlin and would help make the case, in the strongest possible terms, to the Minister for Transport. Thank you for your support. Is mise, Cllr. Darren O'Rourke (Sinn Féin)
