Pensioners for equality
0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!
Since 2012, we have to work longer and are likely to receive less of a pension for the contributions we made throughout our working lives. Worst , workers who raised family s before 1994 find they are punished as no account or credit is given to a worker who was out of the workforce to raise a family prior to 1994. Changes to the qualification for a contributory pension are hitting more and more retirees, especially woman.
The Government change the rules then and criteria for getting the contributory pension became more difficult.Instead of just four bands there are now six, and where 20 Yearly Average Contributions would previously have got you the second highest pension it would now only get you a much reduced third band.
We are campaigning for a number of things.
First we want the Homemakers Scheme extended to workers who left the workforce for a period prior to 1994; if you left after 1994 up to 20 years can be disregarded when the state calculates your contributions for the state pension. Why not prior to 1994? This discriminates against woman who had to raise a family in the 60s, 70s or 80s . Secondly we want the bands used recalculated to give workers who may have worked for decades prior to retiring g the chance to get the full contributory pension they are entitled to.
Please sign our petition and demand justice for pensioners.
