Allow Community Gaming Venues to run multiple fund raising events per week.

Today, current legislation allows Community Gaming to raise money for WA's under privileged with a senseless restriction of frequency per week and hours of operation. The restriction is that the fund raising activity can only be run in an authorised venue once a week and typically for 6 hrs at a time. There is an enormous desire to raise funds for the under privileged through Community Gaming which is evident by the volume of permits being applied for today. Rather than focus on Fund raising these Not For Profits are forced to constantly seek different authorised venues to run their fund raising activities then having to pack up and move to new premises the next day. This stretches their resources and creates a proliferation of gaming over a larger geographic footprint. This has also created a large number of operators competing for a finite number of gaming patrons as they run from venue to venue. This mobile nature of the industry weakens the security investment usually required in any gaming environment. With the amount of cash involved typically neither premises or the operators have adequate surveillance cameras or security personnel to adequately manage large crowds, when alcohol and gaming involved. Allowing Community Gaming for Poker only to run multiple events per week with no time restrictions in an authorised venue will allow operators to invest in adequate security measures and create more fund raising events per week which in turn will generate more proceeds for the under privileged that quite frankly need all the assistance the community can give.
