We currently have no full time garda station to serve the Laytown, Bettystown, Mornington, Stamullen and Gormanstown area. Our nearest full time station is in ashbourne which is 33km away! We have a big problem with gangs of teens and anti social behaviour. There have been several incidents in the past few weeks and innocent people have been attacked and threatened with knives. The population of the area is too large for a part time station and 2 garda to cover. We need a full time garda presence in the area to solve this ongoing issue. Local residents are living in fear and are afraid to let their kids out in case they get attacked by one of these gangs.
