Call for the Australian government to take immediate action on Indigenous youth suicides

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

At the beginning of this month, in the space of forty hours, four young Indigenous men and women aged from 15 to 23 years old died by suicide.

The toll of Aboriginal suicides is now at approximately 38 in just the first 12 weeks of 2019, with around two-thirds of those being under the age of 26, including three at just 12-years-old.

We call upon the government to declare a national crisis and significantly increase funding to Aboriginal-driven organisations to provide real-time response to communities affected by suicide and to provide culturally appropriate Indigenous-led suicide prevention programs nationwide.

Thank you.
