Permanent Visa for Young woman who has been in Australia for 20 years
Melody Yang was brought to Australia by her parents as a 12 year old nearly 20 years ago. She completed high school in Australia and has since obtained her bachelor degree as an early childhood educator and is working to educate and care for young Australian children. She has been involved with the Lutheran Church at Epping for many years assisting with the mainly music ministry, playing an important role with her bi-lingual skills with this multiethnic. group, as well as supporting children’s ministry and in a myriad of other ways. Melody’s mother, sister and aunt are all Australian citizens and she has no family or friends in Taiwan. She has grown up in Australia and only knows life here. Due to a series of unfortunate events and decisions made by others on her behalf she has been left in the position that her continued life in Australia relies on the compassion of the Minister for Immigration to grant her a visa.
We believe in Australia’s compassion to help someone who is deeply embedded in Australian society and gives back so much. We believe in Australia’s compassion to help someone in a difficult situation through no fault of their own. We support Melody’s request for a permanent visa to allow her to remain here in Australia with her church, her friends, her family, her support network, and the only life she has ever really known.
