Hon Peter Dutton MP: Compassion and Kindness for A Boy with Kidney Disease

Hi, my name is Samuel Liem – I am a 10-year-old boy, born and raised in Australia. In my household I was raised by my loving mum (Ratnawati) and dad (Suswanto) which I hold both dearly in my heart, I also have two sisters in Indonesia (who I have never met before).

When I was 4 years old, I was extremely sick and was hospitalized due to a serious infection in my kidney and this infection has damaged my kidney functions – which NO treatment can cure. Now - I have to be cautiously taken care of by my parents because any sickness (due to my low immune system) can trigger kidney failure.

On the 8th of December 2017, the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection: The Hon Peter Dutton MP, kindly granted me a citizenship and with this I was finally able to go to a school like every normal child would.

However, last Thursday my parents visited NSW Community Status Resolution as part of their reporting obligation being a Bridging E visa holder and they were told to leave this country within 14 days. The Assistant Minister has personally considered my parent’s request and has decided that “it would not be in the public interest to intervene in their matter”.

I am extremely sad and as I didn’t know what to do, my mum’s friend decided to help me write my story so I could send my message to as many people possible to help plea to the Hon Peter Dutton MP to intervene my parent’s case and grant them permanent residency in Australia.

I hope that my message has reached your hearts and I hope you can assist me in fighting for my right as an Australian to live on this soil and as a child with dreams to fulfill, your voices will go a long way! I really want to thank you for making it this far into my story and I hope that you can consider signing this petition! Every signature is one step closer to hope! God bless.
