The removal of History as a core subject in the Junior Cert Cycle is a national issue as it removes the knowledge of thousands of years of Irish history and world history from the young people of Ireland's minds.
Under current moves History will be removed as a core subject next September in the Junior Cert Cycle. Ireland will become one of the very few nations to not have History as a compulsory subject to age 16.
We call on the Minister and Department of Education for the reinstatement of History as a core subject in the Junior Cert Cycle in order that the future youth of Ireland may know and appreciate their history.
Do not rob the future generations of Ireland of their national memory.
