Currently, wearing a non-medical face mask is not compulsory in public transportation of the Greater Montreal in order to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

Having the legal mandate to protect the population, the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec, the Direction régionale de santé publique de Montréal as well as the Direction générale de la santé publique du Québec recommend and suggest the wearing of face masks where we cannot apply the social distancing of 2m but, is however not compulsory.

These non-medical face masks do not protect the wearer but reduce the risk of the wearer infecting people nearby. If a minority doesn't wear it, the idea of wearing a face mask becomes useless and the community transmission of COVID-19 will surely increase.

Knowing the high risks of transmission, not to make it compulsory becomes negligence from the above mentioned authorities.

By these facts, we request that the wearing of non-medical face masks become COMPULSORY in the public transportation networks of Greater Montreal as of May 11, 2020 and this, until the complete reopening of our society.
